good morning,
I’m working witg 3,11 GB file size.
the BIP file was created by solidedge.
is it normal file size ?
I encouter problem to manipulate object within the scene: keyshot freeze up and i need to force close.
apple M! Max
32 gb ram
ventura 13.4.1
a lot of disk space
That does seem to be a rather large file. I am assuming that because you are importing a model from a parametric modeling software, there are probably a crazy number of vertex points and polygonal faces. You could attempt to simplify the mesh by using retesselation tool to lighten up the model a little bit. Depending on the complexity of the model, would determine how much to decimate the mesh.
I’m not sure if you’ve any options for the plugin itself if it’s about the export since I don’t think KS will handle it very well if you would re-tesselte it in KS itself. If there are certain plugin options like how fine/coarse up want it to export I would experiment with it.
Else I would do an fbx export for example from SolidEdge and see how large that will be if you import it in KS. Since KS doesn’t have the textures etc within the file I would say it’s a pretty crazy size
I work with pretty heavy scenes made in Solid Edge, and the largest files I can find that I’ve worked with are around 4-500 MB. And that’s with textures and materials applied to basically everything in those scenes.
Not sure what kind of models you work with, but I have assemblies with about 600 unique parts and about 2000 parts total, and those get nowhere near the size of your files despite coming from the same CAD software.
I’ve never tried to import .asm files into Keyshot, because the .bip files work flawlessly for me. I don’t export them with the plugin though, I just use “save as translated” and pick .bip from the list.
reduce the tesselation value. Why a tesselation of 0,2 or higher? With simple shapes a value of 0,05 should work as well. The amount of polys drives the file size. And this has a huge impact of rendering time!
